So, as you know, a bunch of us are looking for things to give up and ways for God to provide money that we can set aside to bring to Liberia. Well, my mom called with this story and I just HAD to share. . .
This morning as she was getting ready, she was praying for God to reveal to her a way to set aside money this week for the children of Liberia. As soon as she got out of the shower, she realized that she had missed a call. Well, upon checking her voicemail she heard a message from our Doctor, Dr. Hoffman: "Terri, please don't go fill your prescription. A pharmacy rep dropped off some samples and I have a 3 month supply sitting here with your name on it". So, my mom rejoices and promptly calls the pharmacy to see just how much she saved. The pharmacist tells her that medicine was $154 per month!! That's over $500 in the fund!!! What a great God we serve. As a side note. . .I can not tell you how much it touches my heart that my family is doing this little challenge with us. I know they can (and will) give out of their abundance at the end of the year, but the fact that they are choosing to look for things to give up and to remember the children of Liberia touches my heart like I can't describe.
One more story. . .my friend Jen is having fun with this too. Last week I told you how she went to CVS without buying anything (harder than it sounds!), this week she excitedly told me Sunday morning how she went to the mall and didn't spend a dollar! She even went in all the stores. Thrilled, she commented, "that's gotta be at least $25!" What a fun journey this is to watch how God teaches us to say No to ourselves to say Yes to Him. Not only that, but the exercise of saying no is helping my budget in other ways and my waistline at home!!

Brandi,
Thanks for visiting my site. I just took a quick look at your blog - my little girl's name is Gracie too!
Last year, we had a giving campaign at our church and we felt God calling us to give sacrificially. I had Garrett (my 2 year old) enrolled in a Mother's Day Out program. I took him out because that would give us an extra $1200 over the course of the year. THAT was a SACRIFICE!!! God honored it though and I didn't even regret it.
He is in Preschool now though! :)
Carmen
That is so great to hear about your mom!!! Love you!
