Katie B, trip to Jinja and Canaan in VIDEO

The following 2 videos follow us from the Hotel Africana (in Kampala) to Jinja (over the NILE River!) and to visit Canaan Children's Home, which is the one that I wrote about in "Mirror from Across the World". The other thing that I forgot to mention is that 18 of the 105 cihldren that live there are formerly abducted children from the north (LRA). . .all of the children are from horrible backgrounds. This home in particular really focused on taking the worst of the worst and had an intense screening process before taking chidren in. You could see this in their eyes and knew there was wounding there. It wasn't until after we left that Daniel told us all about the wounds these precious ones had endured. heartbreaking.

This video also introduces you to Katie Borchert in person! (this will be especially thrilling for her CO friends who miss her greatly!) What a doll and a joy to get to spend time with. Enjoy! The videos are a bit long, but will really give you a feel for Uganda and our time there. In fact, most of the time at Canaan, I was playing with kids so this was MY first time getting to see the rest of the compound too!

I may have to stop reading your blog... or Keith will come home from work one day and find us all gone with a note that says... on the plane to Uganda. Join us on your week off.

Loved the videos and seeing the kids braiding ya'll's hair. One day I would love to go somewhere like this. I'm working on it. I'm starting small. We're supposed to go to an orphanage in Guatemala in March. Next step, Africa.
