One Year Ago TODAY

God's goodness sometimes overwhelms me. Tonight, I sit here and sigh. He is GOOD. One year ago today, we met our son for the first time. We held him in our arms and stood in awe that we finally had him. One year ago today, we were in Liberia. It was a crazy day. A day that changed our lives. I just spent some time re-reading and reliving that day. One of my favorite things about reading the blog from that day is the 40 comments! I LOVED reading all of the sweet comments of our friends, family and blog and adoption family that supported us, loved us and ached to see Davis home. I know that will be precious to Davis one day as well!

I'm so thankful right now that I don't even have words. God has done so much over the last year. A year ago, my son didn't know me. A year ago, he didn't even really like me. A year ago, I didn't know him. . .didn't know his likes, dislikes, the sound of his laughter, the feel of his snuggly hugs. Oh what a difference a year makes.

A year ago, I walked into a room and a little boy looked up at me, wondering who I was. He was uncomfortable and quiet and not so happy.
Today, I walk into a room and that same little boy RUNS into my arms with the biggest smile you could ever see. He clings tightly to me and gently, adoringly places his hand on my cheek while saying "mama".

To celebrate, we had him dedicated to the Lord today! My friend Whitney helped me make an AMAZING slideshow. (that's our tradition at church. You have a slideshow with music and then you come up on stage and our pastor prays for him and you commit yourselves to raising your child to know the Truth). It was so cool! I can't wait for her to come back from vacation and help me turn it into a video so I can post it here! It was a precious day. A ton of our family joined us at church today and most of us headed to lunch afterwards! Here are some pictures from our day. ( I didn't get a ton of pictures and completely missed Granny and Papa, My Parents and our Pastor and his wife!)

Yeeeaaah!!! 1 amazing year together and so many more to look forward to.

We have our 2 year coming up Dec. 11. Isn't it the strangest thing how it seems like it has been forever - I don't remember life without the boy.
