Brayden and Adoption

Brayden has been SO excited about the adoption, it is so cute! I just had to share a couple of his stories. . .

First, I think he may be one of the only 3 year olds who has ever brought in his sister's Madame Alexander doll (a fancy, expensive baby doll) and exclaimed, "meet baby Wildebeast". Seriously, the baby's name is Wildebeast? Then, I asked: "Where are you guys going?" Brayden replies, "Oh, to Africa". He had been watching Little Einsteins earlier and while they were "on safari" Brayden calls to me, "Mommy, the Einsteins are going to Africa to visit my brother. . .And some animals"!

My favorite thing to do with Brayden is pray with him. He like to ask God things, pause for a moment and come back with an answer. . .which I love b/c of his assumption that God will, of course, answer!!!! How many adults need to search the scriptures and hear the truth 100 times before really believing that God WILL answer! Anyways, back to the story. . .We're laying in his bed and Brayden decides to ask God, "Jesus, will you give Davis a hug for me, since I can't?" he pauses for a moment and turns to me, very matter-of-factly. "Jesus said He would!" Oh, Brayden, I know He did b/c I ask Him that every day!

The last cute thing, could actually get us into some trouble! Brayden has never noticed or mentioned skin color before. However, when we pulled into church last Sunday an African American family pulled in right behind us. Brayden excitedly exclaimed, "There's Davis!" "No," I explained, "Davis is still in Africa." "Well, that girl looks just like my brother!" Cracks me up, but I may have some explaining to do if he does this in the grocery store!!!

What sweet stories. Sounds like Brayden has such a tender heart. He will make an awesome brother to Davis. Thanks for sharing and making me smile.

Cute stories! Sam also thinks every black kid is Spencer. If not Spencer, then certainly Siah! He's actually getting better at identifying pictures of his real sibs as opposed to other lovelies who are being adopted, but it's really funny to me! ;)
