Safe?

I have talked to a few friends lately who are in "dangerous" territory. God's calling them, or possibly calling them, to crazy things. I am reminded of a line from the book The Lion , The Witch, and the Wardrobe, where one of the children asks the Beavers about Aslan. Upon learning that Aslan is a lion, the children ask, "Is he safe?" The reply: "Safe? Who said anything about safe? Of course he's not safe. But he's good"

Dictionary.com lists the definition of safe as: secure from liability to harm, injury, danger, or risk. I wish I had a dictionary.com for how God defines words. I'm thinking that his definition of harm it a LOT different than mine. I think of harm as difficult, anything involving pain, anything uncomfortable. I'm thinking since God's big plan for me involves more of my increasing holiness than just happiness, our definitions may differ a bit!

So, I ask you this, if you have not already asked yourself. . . .Is your God safe? Are you keeping God in a safe place so as not to bring you "possible harm, injury, danger or risk"? Are you pretty sure that God's definitions don't match up with yours? Because, if you're asking the question, is He Safe? No, he's not. He calls us to crazy, dangerous, mind blowing things, BUT HE IS GOOD! He will walk that unsafe road right with us and in the process change us to be more like Him!!

Where am I keeping God at a Safe Distance? Or even closer to home, judging him as not good b/c I don't feel safe?

That is one of my favorite lines in any book ever.

My God has called me to do something that is insane, scary, and according to the world an un-nessary risk, but I know that my God is walking with me and my little boy, and he will provide for us, even in the shadow of death.

Thanks for that post!!!

Luv,

AWESOME reminder... thank you so much. Its certainly an adventure following our "un-safe" Lord!! ... At least our lives aren't boring! I am so glad we serve a God who challenges us and speaks to us on an intimate level and doesn't leave us on our own.
Thanks for all your timely, encouraging words. I am blessed by your faithfulness.
