Trust - iFast

I recently started a Bible study with a few of the young girls here in Colorado Springs. Tonight was SUCH a sweet time with them. We went through Psalm 16, especially verses 5-6
"5 LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup;

you have made my lot secure.

6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance."

We talked about this in light of news we had learned today. A man from our church here in COS passed away in the Haitian earthquake. I asked the girls how hard it would be for them to trust that the portion the Lord has given is good and that the boundary lines He has drawn are pleasant if they were facing the loss of their family member. It was such a sweet time with these girls as my precious Abby piped up, "that reminds me of when I was reading Job." and continued to share how God is the one who said to Satan....Job trusts me not just because his life has been great. We used the conversation to pray together that we might be children of God just like Job and prayed that even if our worst fear took place, we still chose to trust that HE is good.

It reminds me so much of those I have met living in extreme poverty. Often, while faced with situations that I would imagine to be truly unbearable they lift their voices in praise. I see the trust of Job. I see a people that believe that what God's word says is true, even when their life situations don't seem pleasant.

Today, I'm praying that while I intercede for those in extreme poverty that I also seek to learn what so many of them already know. I pray that He would use their faith to teach me. That I might say to the Lord, "I choose you. No matter what."

Requests:

Remember the Poor: (from last week)
Praying to the Lord of the harvest to raise up and send out laborers into his harvest. Praying that the church would rise up and be known to the world by her fruit, that we would live out pure religion in every way, caring well for every widow and every orphan, that not one would be left unloved, unfed, unmedicated, or uneducated.

I need God to get my heart to the truth, "I Choose You, God, no matter what"... No matter if my finances fall apart or my life gets turned upside down... no matter if my kids are crazy or my role in ministry is a big fat unknown... no matter if I have no clue what God has for me next and it scares me to death... NO MATTER WHAT, I CHOOSE YOU, GOD! Wow... i feel nowhere close to that, yet. Good thing He promises to answer the requests of our hearts to become more like Him. I need it, Thanks for the reminder, Brand
